Lir Resources - At the Leading Edge of UK Energy

Lir Resources is a next generation energy company with two ambitions: to supply indigenous, high return and secure energy to the UK whilst combating climate change through offsetting CO2 emissions.

Lir Resources is developing a gas production business based on implementing a stacked play strategy, targeting sandstones of Triassic, Permian and Carboniferous age, lying within two prolific gas basins situated offshore to the east and west of England.

Lir Resources intends to explore and produce the gas potential of the East Irish Sea and Southern North Sea Basins, by drilling wells economically, through employing innovative platform technology and utilising the existing production and pipeline infrastructure.

Lir Resources’ business model will deliver commercial long-term success and tackle the environmental challenges generated by increasing atmospheric CO₂. The profitable offsetting of CO₂ emissions will be achieved through:

  • Supplying methane as feedstock to an onshore hydrogen generation plant or providing offshore modular generation of hydrogen
  • Providing the option of gas to wire, exploiting transmission through windfarm cables to shore
  • Incorporating carbon sequestration
